Web Site Design on a Grand Scale!

Hello, all! My name is Barry Crenshaw; I’m forty-three years young, remarried to a wonderful woman, and a father to two teenagers. I spent five years as a single parent, and I now have more respect for single mothers. Attending a traditional college classroom setting after work was not an option. Online education works really well in my family situation. Our family is located in Crown Point, Indiana, about an hour southeast of Chicago. I’m currently a technical writer and illustrator for an industrial crane manufacturer. In my daily functions I use a variety of software -including AutoCAD 2007, Adobe PageMaker and FrameMaker - in the creation of operator, part and specification manuals. I’ve been a tech writer for the last ten years.

I became interested in web design after five years of designing my own auction templates and store on eBay. I finally realized I enjoyed this design process much more than the actual selling of products, so I closed my online store and here I am at AIOnline! I expect this program to teach me the skills required in this field, along with my technical writing and illustrating experiences, will allow me to make a much needed career change.

The online learning process is something I’m familiar with. I haven’t attended a traditional online college like this one, but rather I learned on scores of websites related to auction template design, HTML, Adobe Photoshop. The only experience I have with creating dynamic web sites is with javascript, so I’m looking forward to learning from everyone’s experiences here. Thanks!
